WHY the name "TOVA"?

I speak Russian fluently and my surname is Moretti. My friends started to call me "Morettova" (Russian, funny version of my surname), then "Tova". That's the reason of my nickname ;-) I lately discovered that in Hebrew the word "Tova" means "good, kind hearted". That sounds even better!!! ;-)

WHAT ARE MY SONGS ABOUT?

They're about what I think of life, society, past, present and future. They're about my feelings and emotions, about the people I love. Some of them are describing our present situation as human beings- our addiction to social networks, our reactions to pandemic. Other songs are about places I love, as the city of Venice, or they are the Italian translation of Russian poems (with original parts in Russian language).

Tragedy and comedy are part of my personality. That's why in my songs there's always a funny side, but also a bit of tragedy, of existential harassment (I graduated in Philosophy, after all!).

HOW DID THIS MUSIC PROJECT BEGIN?

Music has been part of my life since my early childhood, as my father is a musician (he plays guitar, bass guitar, flute and more) fond of rock music of the 60's-70's. I grew up with the songs of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Jethro Tull, the Eagles, the Led Zeppelin, Brian Adams... I started playing the guitar when I was 14. Then, for a long time, I quit. Just a few years ago, in 2018, music came back to my life. My dad proposed me to sing in his cover rock bands. I was really skeptical at the beginning, but it turned to be a great choice. Playing in bands is such a great social experience, such an adrenaline rush, specially when we're on stage. At that time, I also started again playing my guitar. I was in a difficult moment of my life and maybe this inspired me (yes, sadness inspires artists, it's a classic!!), as I started writing my first songs. They were country songs in English or comic, novelty songs in Italian, just for fun. Then this turned into a real passion and a concrete project, as I started recording my songs, thanks again to my dad, who as a small music studio at home. We played, arranged, recorded them, and day by day my 1st album started to take shape. Yes, it's all homemade, entirely home recorded, and we are not music pros, so please, don't be too judgemental: my album is really far from being perfect or professional!

WHAT IS MY MUSIC GENRE?

I like rock, that's pretty clear. Hard rock, classic rock and country music. I love Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater Revival, AC/DC. Among Italian bands or singers, I like Gianna Nannini, Lucio Dalla, Fabrizio De André, Vasco Rossi and the more contemporary band Maneskin. But what I love is a bit different than what I sing. In my album there are different music genres, cause I love to experiment. I get bored very soon of almost everything, so I like to change and explore. So in my album you can find classic rock songs, more contemporary songs with a bit of funk or rap, country songs, ballads and much more. This way, I hope you won't get bored!

WhAT ARE MY FUTURE PLANS?

I think I'll keep on writing new songs, I'll release another album soon. I am pretty quick in writing songs (maybe even too quick!) and I always find new inspirations. I really want to get better in what I do. Home recording is challenging, as the outcome can't be as good as professional studio recording, no metter how hard you try. Plus, I wasn't blessed with a great voice or a particular ability to sing, so I have to keep studying hard, I have still a long path to do to improve. That's what I like about music. Writing songs is something that comes out spontaneously for me, but the singing part is hard, is my real challenge. That's what stimulates me.

I never take myself too seriously. That's my cross and delight. I do things, that I get bored and I change. So far I've tried almost all the artistic subjects: writing books and novels, drawing and painting, and now writing songs. Hell knows what I'll do when I'll be a grown-up! ;-)))

WHO DID I MAKE MY ALBUM OUT TO?

First of all, to my wonderful parents, mom and dad. Yes, this is soooo Italian! I really  mean it. Without them, I would have never done what I've done, this album would have never existed. They've always encouraged me doing what I wanted, they've always supported my artistic inclinations, and this is not obvious at all. I was very lucky. Then I dedicate this songs to all the people I have loved, I love and I'll always love, who were part of my life and always will be. To Russia, which always inspires me. To my friends who play in our rock bands.
